The Paws & Pearls Gala will feature dinner, dancing, opportunity drawings, live and silent auctions. We will also present the first annual Marley Award. The funds raised each year are used in programs to rescue, rehabilitate, train and re-home death row dogs from Kern and Los Angeles Counties’ high-kill animal shelters. In addition, the rescued dogs transform people’s lives. Through the power of the human-canine bond, we empower dogs and people to live healthy, happy and productive lives. Rescue and Adoption of helpless animals by working with Kern County and Los Angeles County shelters to rescue dogs at high risk of euthanasia, then rehabilitate and place them in their forever homes.

Marley’s Mutts Programs:

Pawsitive Change is a progressive and intensive rehabilitation program matching death row dogs with California State Prison inmates. The goal is to reduce inmate recidivism by teaching life skills and marketable skills while changing and saving dog’s lives.

Miracle Mutts is the first and only dog rescue sanctioned by the American Kennel Club to certify therapy dogs. Miracle Mutts is a community outreach and education endeavor, through which volunteers utilize therapy dogs for comfort, emotional and social enrichment, addiction recovery programs and job skill training for youth and adults.

Spay and Neuter program is dedicated to address and reduce the overpopulation of dogs in Kern County and Los Angeles County. Through this program we provide education and low cost spay/neuter services. Mutt Movers rescues and relocates dogs at high risk of euthanasia in Bakersfield and Los Angeles high-kill shelters to cities and states outside of Kern County and Los Angeles where there is a need for adoptable dogs.

Marley’s Mutt Rescue Ranch, located in the Cummings Valley area of Tehachapi, California has been established to provide board and training services to the community, provide a place for at-risk dogs to rehabilitate and heal from major injuries or illness, and allow a place for volunteers to help build the organization and facility. We are seeking sponsors for the 2018 Paws & Pearls event. We are planning a spectacular evening which promises to be our biggest and brightest Gala yet.

Blessings,

Pam Middleton, Co-Event Chair
